General Information
Konocti Bay Sailing Club was founded in 1988. The first set of By-Laws was adopted in January 1989. It's primary purpose is to promote, foster and encourage sailing on Clear Lake. Our club facilities, activities and location are designed to meet these ends.
Once your membership is approved, you will receive a membership package. Your membership package should include a copy of the By-Laws (please read), a Membership Identification Card (to be replaced yearly), an Event Calendar, and a Membership Roster. Club Activities
RACING: A calendar should be included in your membership package. The Club supports two fleets. The keelboats use NorCalPHRF handicap figured on the YRA of San Francisco system. Find your rating here . There are the Spring to Fall Buoy Series running from April to October, Long Races, plus several other class races scheduled for the year. If you desire to race but don't have a boat, skippers are always looking for crew. Race every Wednesday with "Old Salts in Retirement" -noon lunch - race starts 1pm.
CRUISING: The cruising calendar is intermingled with the racing schedule included in your membership package. Various cruises are scheduled throughout the warmer months. They include overnighters, brunch, dinner and moonlight cruises, and fun races. Casual cruises every Monday and Friday. Set your own course. Usually 2-4 boats out in winter with many more in the spring and summer months. SOCIAL GATHERINGS: Various dinners and social events are held throughout the year, ranging from events, such as, the Crab Feed and awards and special occasions like The Commodore’s Ball. Also happening throughout the year, post race picnics and BBQs. Gatherings are popular especially with the Wednesday OSIRs post race crowd. THE KONOCTI CUP: The club's biggest regatta of the year is hosting the Konocti Cup and Half Cup now in their 39th year. This event occurs during the last full weekend of April. As many as forty to fifty boats from all areas of Northern California participate, including Bay area fleets. |
