What is Rumsey?
The natural level of Clear Lake has been maintained by the Grigsby Riffle, which is a rock sill located at the confluence of Cache and Seigler Creeks near Lower Lake. The natural low water level of Clear Lake was established as "Zero Rumsey" and all subsequent lake measurements are based on this elevation.

Zero Rumsey is equivalent to 1318.256 feet (1929 NGVD).

Announcement:

Lake County Invasive Mussel Prevention Program!
Most people are aware of the possibility of an infestation of the lake by the quagga and zebra mussels. The county is requiring mandatory inspections of all boats entering Clear Lake, and that inspection stickers be affixed to all boats.
Go to the Lake County website with complete information about the new regulations.
You can also call the Lake County Mussel Hotline at (707) 263-2556
